Now Hiring – Imaging Technical Assistant II

Location: Fort Myers, FL – On-site (6100 Winkler Rd.) 

Status: Full-time 

Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:00pm

Job Summary: 

 Under the clinical direction of a radiologist and general supervision of the diagnostic imaging center manager or clinical services supervisor, performs and assists with radiologic exams not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to maximize patient flow. Assumes responsibility for assisting with patient care and patient safety. Performs other related duties within the job classification or organization as necessary or as assigned by management. 

 

  • Greet patients and properly introduce self, using SBAR and AIDET principles, escort patient through procedures to prevent entry into unauthorized or restricted areas of facility to protect the patient.
  • Explain proper preparation to patient prior to procedure.
  • Verify patient demographics in accordance with RRC's HIPAA/PHI policy using two identifiers to confirm patient name, address, DOB, phone numbers, and referring physicians’ first and last name and physicians’ address.
  • Ensure patient’s history is completed with accurate information per history sheet for exam scheduled.
  • Operate and understands all computer systems, including PACS, RIS, MDM and SPARK (Instant Messaging).
  • Maintain proficiency in assisting with ETTs, cardiac nuc exams, PET/CT exams.
  • Complete IV training program.
  • Will start IVs on patients but will not inject or flush radiopharmaceutical material.
  • Have an understanding and ability to navigate through the RRC Informer, accessing policies, commonly used forms, required annual training and radiologists’ schedules.
  • Assure that patient rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, and civil rights are maintained.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all classified and sensitive information and records, including patient care information according to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Assist with laundry of patient gowns, sheets, and other linens.
  • Attend and participate in-service educational classes, seminars, staff meetings and on-the-job training programs as required.

Requirements

 

Prior medical assisting or other patient focused experience is preferred, but we will train the right individual who is self-motivated, customer service-oriented, desires a career in radiologic healthcare, is personable and is interested in making our patients feel comfortable while undergoing a variety of imaging services.  

 

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
  • Required: CPR Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Preferred: medical training program that included medical and anatomy terminology
  • Preferred: medical assistant certificate
  • Preferred: medical knowledge/experience
  • Preferred: IV or phlebotomy experience
