    Requisition ID: 19177  Department: Rec, Cultural & Facility Services Dept.  Service: Facility Operations Service  Branch: Facility Operations - Special Branch Employment Type: 2 Casual -  Work Hours: 40.00 hours per weekAffiliation: CUPE 503 Inside/Outside Salary Information: $25.600 - $29.953 per hour (2024 rates of pay)Location: City Hall,110 Laurier Avenue West  City: Ottawa, ON Job Category: Maintenance and Trades Application Close: 08/10/2025JOB SUMMARY The mandate of Facility Operations is to operate and maintain all City facilities and City-managed buildings, which represents approximately 900 buildings and includes police, fire, libraries, child care, paramedic posts, recreation, culture, public works, City Hall and other administrative buildings, long-term care facilities, and facility outdoor property. The Facility Operations units deliver facility management and maintenance services within assigned geographic and/or specialty areas. You operate the ice resurfacing equipment on a part-time basis and carry out general housekeeping activities and minor building maintenance activities, as required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Completion of Grade 10  Minimum of 1 year of related experience in building/cleaning maintenance, including experience in operating ice resurfacer and ice edger CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES Valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver’s licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulatedCurrent Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificatesSafe Ice Resurfacer Operator (Zamboni) certificate within the timeframe determined by the employerMust complete all required on-the-job training/certifications (e.g. WHMIS, fall arrest, confined space entry, etc.) within the timeframe determined by the employer. Certified Ice Technician (CIT) from ORFA or equivalent is an assetKNOWLEDGE Safe lifting practices Propane handling Service excellence PBGOM Policies and Procedures Occupational Health and Safety Act         Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers Completion of City of Ottawa Facility Cleaning and Sanitization training COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Must possess the personal suitability to perform the duties of the position Good interpersonal and customer service skills Must possess the physical capabilities to perform the duties of the position Capable of working shift work, including weekends Ability to work overtime WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW Language Requirement: English oral, reading, writing        Police Record Check: The successful candidate will be required to complete a Criminal Records and Judicial Matters Check (Level 2) with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa’s satisfaction.; Police record checks completed by a third-party company will not be accepted.   Driver’s License Requirement:  A valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver’s license (or provincial equivalent) with 0 demerit points accumulated   You may initially be paid 95% of your starting rate of pay, in accordance with the collective agreement.
