Job Description : HSEQ Manager Provide strategic leadership to a multidisciplinary HSEQ team while driving the implementation and execution of the regional HSEQ strategy. Partner with business units to guide, mentor, and strengthen their capability to meet annual HSEQ objectives. Ensure all activities align with applicable legislation, corporate standards, and client requirements, maintaining robust compliance and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. To support the HSEQ function in the delivery, maintenance and improvement of Altrad certified management systems, ensuring that these systems are effective, suitable, sufficient and associated management tools are appropriate for the safe and effective implementation of the company’s business interests. To identify and ensure appropriate resourcing to provide the business with guidance and advice on HSEQ matters. The ability to understand complex legislation, providing advice, support and delivery across a wide range of HSEQ specialist areas to business unit management, product lines and delivery teams, ensuring full compliance with current legislation and industry best practice. Developing, improving and implementing relevant policies and procedures to support areas of respective responsibility. Ability to interpret standards and translate requirements for the relevant business purpose application to ensure compliance. Develop and maintain high standard of client interfaces for all aspects of HSEQ support to contracts, projects and product lines. Creation of new material and campaigns in support of regional objectives to drive improvement in HSEQ performance. Focal point for interfacing with external bodies e.g. HSEx, SEPA, SCiS, LR, UKAS,etc. Develop and maintain high standard of internal stakeholder interfaces to ensure all regional HSEQ objectives are achieved. Accountable for implementation of key legislation for business activities including COSHH, PUWER, Working at Height, Manual Handling, Noise, etc Health & Safety Supporting delivery and maintenance of annual UK HSEQ Objectives. Maintaining legal compliance across all UK operations through verification and keeping abreast of updates. Drive continuous improvement in HSEQ performance. Support business units in: Investigation reporting and management ensuring root causes are accurately captured with lessons learned identified and shared. Identification of relevant hazards and controls through the risk assessment and management process. Delivery of occupational health and hygiene requirements with support from the OH Team. Ensure that Emergency Response requirements are fit for purpose including documentation, resourcing and testing of plans. Maintenance of IMS procedures to comply with current legislative and industry standards. Operational Support Provide guidance and coaching on all HSEQ elements pertinent to business area. Maintain knowledge and understanding of relevant HSEQ legislation. Maintain knowledge and understanding of technical standards and specification requirements for area of responsibility. Ensuring that the HSEQ advisors are accountable for delivering of HSEQ plans for their relevant contracts. Support HSEQ induction and training requirements to ensure consistency across the business and evaluate effectiveness. Deliver direct functional support to product line / contracts within areas of responsibility. People Supervise and mentor the assigned team, providing guidance and coaching to ensure that the team works within the organisation’s procedures and standards. Implement and manage people performance, including P&D and input to pay reviews with direct reports with support from HR. Ensure that all direct reports are managed in accordance within Altrad Policies and Procedures and possess the pre-requisite skills and competence to perform their role safely, ethically and effectively. Continual monitoring of the performance, conduct & capability of direct reports. Identify, recruit and evaluate team composition in relation to both Altrad’s and the Clients expectations and needs. Quality Support of regional HSEQ Management Systems including maintenance of IMS procedures to comply with current legislative standards. Support business delivery of relevant HSEQ plans. Support the business in review of health, safety and environmental legal registers. Participate in the delivery of the company audit plans both internal and external. Support relevant systems for continuous improvement. Audit Support Quality Assurance and Sustainability Manager in respect of the annual internal and external audit plan. Support Audits with Clients and others such as certification bodies. Co-operate with Clients and other bodies during HSEQ Audits. Customer Relations Liaise with key stakeholders to produce HSEQ performance metrics relevant to the internal and external stakeholder. Liaise with customers to develop and produce project/contract specific interface documents clearly identifying who has primacy for respective policies, procedures and processes. Attend customer meetings in relation to HSEQ issues including client business reviews. Continually identify opportunities to improve customer relations. Understand and adhere to the Safer Together behaviours – See Appendix A (WORKFORCE/SUPERVISOR behaviours are applicable) Education / Training Degree qualified. or NEBOSH (NGC) and working towards NEBOSH Diploma (Certified) in Occupational H&S. or Equivalent including NVQ. Auditing qualification – internal or external. Incident Investigation experience including Root Cause Analysis and development of remedial action plans. Preferred COSHH Assessor. Membership of IOSH or IIRSM. Experience Previous experience in HSEQ Leadership role. Significant level of experience, understanding and interpretation of HSE legislation and applicability to businesses. Experience of relevant discipline HSEQ requirements. Scope / Dimensions Act as a subject matter expert on key health and safety legislation and procedures pertaining to the organisation. Technical Know How Broad understanding of, and ability to locate and interpret, Health & Safety legislation and its relevance to this organisation. Knowledge of relevant engineering, specialist products and services.
