Job Description HEADSTART COOK Eskasoni Headstart Program We are seeking a cook to plan and prepare meals for the children of the Eskasoni Headstart Program. Our Headstart Cook will be working from our new location, providing meals for children aged 6 months to school age. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a positive attitude, be a self-starter, self-motivated and reliable. Our Headstart Cook will have patience serving and interacting with children participating in the Headstart programs. Responsibilities include: • Overall operation of the kitchen dining area • Maintaining the kitchen facilities and equipment • Purchase food and kitchen supplies as required and within budget allocation • Plan and prepare complete and nutritious meals and snacks for the Headstart children • Work as a team member supporting the daily operation of the Headstart Program Requirements: • Food Handler Certificate or food Service worker Certificate from a recognized college or training institute • Knowledge and experience of the requirement for hygienic maintenance and housekeeping • Experience meal planning and preparation, including experience in preparing culturally appropriate foods • Good personal hygienic habits • Able to relate well to children and parents • Criminal record check • Child Abuse registry (in Nova Scotia) check • CPR-C (Infant and child) • Knowledge of Mi’kmaq culture, communication styles and values systems • Ability to speak Mi’kmaq an asset Job Type: Full-time, Monday to Friday Apply online on or before 4 pm – October 17, 2025 attention to: Maxine Stevens, Human Resource Manager We thank all candidates for their interest, however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
