Hyperscape is Meta’s bet for bringing realistic environments to the metaverse. As a Graphics Engineer in the Hyperscape Platform team in Horizon Core Experiences & Infra, you will be delivering Hyperscape to creators and consumers. You’ll be integrating Hyperscape into the Meta Horizon Engine (MHE), work on in-world performance, and delivering foundational capabilities for spatial realism. Our mission is to enable creators to build realistic worlds in the metaverse—whether captured from reality, generated by AI, or crafted by artists. Hyperscape, built on cutting-edge real-time radiance field rendering with Gaussian splats, is the engine behind this transformation. Hyperscape allows us to render high-fidelity, realistic-looking environments that blend seamlessly with synthetic content, enabling experiences in any visual style. Responsibilities Design and deliver engine features to enable rendering realism on Horizon platform, including Meta Horizon Engine and Meta Horizon Studio Work with research and technical art to define the right technologies needed to provide delightful experiences for our users Create frameworks, integrations and features that power current and future metaverse products Develop high-quality, performant, and maintainable code Push the performance envelope (CPU and GPU) to yield the richest experience possible Collaborate with technology, research and Horizon development teams to align and realize mutual goals Minimum Qualifications Experience as an engineer building and shipping rendering features within VR, games or other 3D interactive products Experience in developing native C/C++ that executes on end user devices (such as VR headsets or game consoles) Familiarity with commercial or proprietary game engines (such as Unity, Unreal, CryEngine, Frostbite) Understanding of modern GPUs (desktop or mobile) and graphics APIs for them (such as Vulkan, DirectX, Metal or OpenGL). Practical knowledge of 3D graphics concepts (meshes, materials, shaders, lighting) Track record of setting technical direction and collaborating with cross-functional partners Experience improving quality through thoughtful code reviews, appropriate testing, proper rollout, monitoring, and proactive changes Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in shipping game engines, VR games or other interactive applications Familiarity with developing 3D pipelines and processing models (scenes, textures, materials and animations) Experience in building and using performance analysis tools in CPU and graphics domains (such as RenderDoc or Nsight) Experience in developing shared technology and features that balances the needs of multiple shipping products Exposure to architectural patterns of large scale software applications
