Mercado Little Spain is looking for a PART-TIME Goods Receiver to join our team as we continue our quest for NYC's most talented and passionate hospitality professionals to help us bring Spain to America. 


The ideal candidate must have morning availability to work regularly scheduled shifts on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Essential Functions:

  • Works closely with Receiving Manager/Supervisor to ensure efficient operation of the Receiving Department. 
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate records of shipping and receiving related transactions.
  • Follows up and maintains Receiving Manager/Supervisor aware of activities and discrepancies.
  • Schedules and monitors deliveries.
  • Communicates efficiently and concisely over the phone, in person, and through e-mail to coordinate returns, rejections, and credits.
  • Accurately inputs a high volume of information concerning incoming and outgoing merchandise in a timely manner.
  • Checks and records the quantity of the merchandise for conformity to purchase orders and specifications.
  • Records and reports shortages and discrepancies.
  • Ensures friendly, efficient, and professional customer service.
  • Performs other work-related duties as required and assigned.
Requirements

Abilities & Working Conditions: 

  • Availability to work morning shifts on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in a part-time capacity.
  • Minimum 2 years of similar experience
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, employees, vendors, and buyers.
  • Ability to calculate figures, and amounts such as discounts, interest, and proportions.
  • Computer Literate
  • Effective oral and written communication skills. 
  • Commitment to company values and strong customer orientation.
  • This position will spend 100% of the time standing. 
  • Regular environmental exposures to very cold (-32 degrees) and heat (+90 degrees) freezers, ovens, and water.
  • Be aware of exposure to conditions that could lead to minor injuries such as cuts and burns. 
  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space. 
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis. 
  • Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. occasionally. 
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, hearing ability, and visual acuity.
