The Fitness Centre Assistant is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment in the fitness facility. This position involves customer service, general maintenance, equipment monitoring, and ensuring all patrons follow gym rules and safety guidelines. Assist with registration of new fitness centre users. Assist with supervision of the fitness center and conduct inventory checks on a regular basis. Assist with general maintenance and cleaning of the fitness centre. Assist with general maintenance and cleaning of the Recreational Park next to the fitness centre. Ensure participants of the fitness centre follow the rules of the facility and using equipment safely. Responsible for tracking fitness center statistics and volunteer hours. Create opportunities for incorporating the Ojibway language and culture into the facility and the programming occurring at the facility. Facilitate fitness centre orientation sessions to increase confidence and competency within fitness centre participants, assist community members with their workout that may require additional support. Must have, or be willing to obtain First Aid, WHIMIS, & Health and Safety in 4 Steps. Priority will be given to post-secondary students within the health, fitness, recreational leadership or human services fields. Knowledge of and respect for Anishnawbek values, teachings, culture, and traditions is of critical importance. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet and email software’s. Able to work with minimum supervision. Must be able to be physically active on a regular basis. Current CPR and First Aid Certification . Valid drivers license for on the job use. Must be able to work flexible hours.
