Job Details Job Location: Boca Raton, FL 33496 Position Type: Full-Time/Part-Time Summary: The Fitness Attendant ensures the successful operation of the Fitness Center facilities, services and business transactions. Ensures the safety and comfort of all members and guests in the Fitness Center and facilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following; Ensures the safety and acts as official greeter to all members and guests using the Fitness Center facilities daily. Monitors people entering the Fitness Center to ensure that guests are greeted and admitted only during approved times and that relevant guest fees have been paid daily. Enforces Fitness Center & facility rules and policies and follows all aspects of job safety daily, understands proper completion of Incident Report Form. Knows and implements all emergency procedures including: hurricane, inclement weather, fire, medical and security, as needed. Sets, cancels, and modifies appointments daily. Checks in members and guests and takes payment for personal training, Pilates and fitness programs. Researches member billing questions and makes corrections daily. Assists Fitness Attendant Supervisor with Fitness Shop stock and completion of paperwork as required daily and monthly. Maintains Fitness Desk, counter and surrounding area in a clean and professional manner, showcases program material and Fitness Shop displays. Provides blood pressure and heart rate readings offering education to the effects of exercise on both measurements as requested. All blood pressure readings at or over 180/90 requires calling Polo EMS. Takes reservations for Fitness facilities & programs, answers questions and responds to concerns, complaints and suggestions. Assists Fitness Professionals/Core Staff with maintenance log records, equipment diagnosis, placement of “Out of Order” signage, minor repairs and contacts Maintenance Service Contractors and Polo Maintenance. Cleans fitness equipment including cardio, strength, flexibility, racks, televisions, desk and counter surfaces, and water & towel dispensers. Assists Fitness Attendant Supervisor with events and projects as assigned. Assists members and guests with instructions of machine usage, take blood pressure reading, pass out towels, water and any information regarding the Polo Club, it’s activities and fitness in general. Monitors traffic flow and maintains logs of daily use and member sign in. Communicates with members, co-workers, management and the general public in a courteous and professional manner. Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions. Exhibits and maintains a professional demeanor to reflect a positive image of The Polo Club. Performs other duties as assigned by the Fitness Attendant Supervisor. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must have strong member service skills. Must have excellent communications skills. Experience in health or hospitality industries preferred. Must be able to handle cleaning supplies. Ability to verbally communicate well in English and in writing. Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions in English. Ability to interact professionally and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, co-workers and members. Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment. Supervisory Responsibilities: This job does not have supervisory responsibilities. Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software Internet software, Outlook and Fitness Center computer programs. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: First Aid, CPR and AED certification.
