Work Flexibility: Hybrid Financial Accountant, UK and Ireland Contract: Permanent Contract Based in Newbury, UK. Hybrid: 2 Days Per Week in Office. This position will provide the financial support to ensure the essentials are in place and operational for maintaining accurate and adequate books and records in accordance with local and US generally accepted accounting principles. This includes a focus on accounting compliance, internal controls and tax compliance. The role is a core element of the matrix financial organization comprising local Finance, Polish Finance Centre, Europe and US Finance teams. Key Activities and Accountabilities: Financial Accounting and Reporting Ensure financial results are accurate and fully compliant and are appropriately supported by adequate documentation Provide support for annual statutory audit and financial statements processes Provide support for all company and indirect tax returns Working in partnership with the wider finance team, support the month end close process through to successful, effective, efficient and timely completion Embrace PowerBI dashboards and big data to drive business performance Build/ foster/ facilitate strong relationships across the wider finance team and our stakeholders. Internal Controls Compliance Ensure that effective internal controls are in place, documented and reviewed regularly Prepare process narratives to ensure they remain up to date Ensure all month end controls are evidenced appropriately and in accordance with Sarbanes Oxley requirements Analyse processes, identify improvement opportunities and propose solutions Tax compliance Support the UK’s Statutory Accounting Officer compliance programme Maintain the tax control frameworks, risk matrices and related narratives Maintain strong relationships with our internal tax stakeholders Support all HMRC related audits Other Support with implementation of local country related projects Ensure we hit all Corporate/divisional deadlines Play an active role in improving processes What you will need: Education University degree (accounting related) Newly qualified professional accounting certification (i.e. ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW) English language – other European languages advantageous Experience 3+ years working in a finance function (or accounting practice). Newly Qualified or One Year post Qualification Experience Comfortable with developing, maintaining and manipulating big data Strong advanced excel skills Strong system knowledge of Oracle an advantage Competencies Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, attention to detail and ability to communicate complicated issues effectively Planning/Organisation – Understands what is needed to accomplish project objectives and establish appropriate goals and priority. These roles could have travel expectations, and you must work within the country of the job requisition location. Field-based – You can expect to regularly work a majority to 100% of time at customer facilities and has a set territory or expectation to travel within a set boundary. Almost all sales roles would likely be qualified as field-based. Onsite – Role is 100% located at a Stryker facility. Some ad hoc flexibility may be available depending on role, level, and job requirements. Manufacturing roles and any role that requires physical presence at the office would qualify under this category. Hybrid – You can expect to regularly work in both an alternate workplace and a Stryker facility.
