The Role and the Department The Finance Coordinator will work as part of the Financial Planning and Analysis team. They will assist all aspects of financial management, financial performance and control for the professional services departments within the University. This role includes supporting budget holders through preparing and presenting management information and financial reports, analysis of financial data, preparation of journals, monitoring costs and performing checks to promote the accuracy and completeness of accounting entries in the system. They must be able to work independently, on their own initiative, and liaise confidently with staff throughout the University. We currently offer hybrid working with a minimum of 2 days per week to spent in the office. The base location for this role is Boldon House, our exciting new professional services hub. Boldon House is situated on the outskirts of Durham near the Arnison Centre in Pity Me. Boldon House brings a number of professional services teams together in a vibrant office environment which supports collaborative working and is designed to embrace hybrid working. Your application should cover the following criteria: Essential Criteria Qualifications/Experience 1. Hold an accounting qualification at AAT level 4 or above, or equivalent. 2. Five GCSEs at least Grade C or level four (or equivalent) including English Language and Mathematics or a Post-16 qualification or equivalent experience. 3. Experience of working in a busy office environment delivering front line administrative services to a high standard. 4. Experience of managing time and working under pressure to meet tight deadlines without compromising on quality. 5. Evidence of continued personal development to maintain skills. 6. Experience of working in a Finance environment. Skills/Abilities/Knowledge 7. Excellent spoken and written communication skills including the ability to develop effective working relationships, both internally and externally. 8. Demonstrable ability to proactively work with team members to ensure the delivery of high quality services. 9. Demonstrable experience of providing advice and guidance to a range of customers and colleagues. 10. Strong digital competence across a range of digital tools including internet, email, digital communication tools, Microsoft 365 applications and accounting software packages. 11. Ability to solve problems yourself and as part of a team and resolve issues, plan solutions and make pragmatic decisions. 12. Ability to participate in networks to share and discuss good practice and exchange information. Desirable Criteria 1. Experience of Oracle Fusion system or other ERP Finance system.
