Work Schedule Standard (Mon-Fri) Environmental Conditions Office Job Description We are recruiting for a Field Applications Specialist (FAS) to join our Single Use Technology Division (SUD). As an FAS you will act as a trusted advisor to our customers, providing scientific expertise, support and training on our extensive portfolio (Fluid Transfer Assemblies, BioProcess Containers, Single-Use Bioreactors, Fermenters, Controllers, Mixer systems and other technologies). This role is field-based, within England with a preference that the successful candidate is based in North of England. You will be required to travel regularly within your territory. When not traveling, you will be able to work from home. Key Responsibilities: Provide technical consultation to our customers related to the full product portfolio Troubleshoot issues related to workflow, software and/or instrumentation. Interpret customer needs and identify solutions that may include technical support, sales, service, R&D, or other internal functions to ensure customer satisfaction. Promote solutions externally by introducing our capabilities. Ensure understanding of our value proposition to drive revenue. Develop collaborative relationships with key opinion leaders across all workflows to facilitate demand and preference for Thermo Fisher Scientific solutions. Assist the sales team in the development of accounts by giving technical seminars and presentations that promote the use of our products. Work with the operations team to ensure customer requirements are clearly understood and that systems are built according to specifications (URS). Collaborate and make recommendations to customers on potential process improvements through utilization of Thermo Fisher Scientifics’ technologies & concepts. Present Thermo Fisher Scientific Single Use capabilities and value proposition at external conferences. Handle multiple new customer requests and co-ordinating follow-up in a timely and effective manner, interacting with site management and technical functions. Work with Product Management and R&D to make product improvements for increased efficiency and customer satisfaction. Liaise with management, production, and marketing teams to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products. Facilitate sustained evaluation and awareness of competitor activities & innovations within the market in general & ensure that relevant information is circulated within the organization. Ensure that technical knowledge is kept current and identify training needs. Provide feedback on technical problems and their respective solutions and share expertise & knowledge amongst the Field Application Specialist team. Candidate Specification: B.Sc. or higher degree in Life Science or relevant science subject (biotechnology, (bio)chemical engineering, biochemistry, biology, chemistry) Detailed knowledge in upstream and cell culture processes in the biopharmaceutical industry is essential. Understanding and hands-on experience in single-use technologies is preferred but not essential Comprehensive understanding of processes and applications used within the biopharmaceutical, biotech, human and animal vaccine industries. Extensive knowledge & understanding of cGMP & other regulatory guidelines for the Biotech and Biopharmaceutical manufacturing industry. Outstanding project management, communication, and presentation skills. Highly motivated and self-directed requiring minimal supervision, including the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent team-working skills. Proficient in IT specifically Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to learn new computer systems quickly (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Project) Willingness to travel within the territory as required (40 – 60%).
