Circa £70,000 (dependent on skills & experience) Permanent / 37 hours per week / Full-time (with flexibility for part-time working) Huntingdon, Lincoln or Peterborough – Hybrid Lead enterprise data governance at Anglian Water As our most senior data governance leader, you’ll set strategy and drive adoption of data governance and management policies, standards, and stewardship so data is treated as a strategic asset across processes, analytics, and regulatory needs. You’ll lead a team of Data Governance Leads and oversee internal and external data, including open/shared datasets. You’ll mature governance operations (data quality, metadata/lineage), embed change through the data community and steward network, and represent the organisation in regulatory and external forums. You’ll identify opportunities for automation and AI that raise governance effectiveness without adding friction. What you will be doing Own the enterprise data governance strategy and frameworks; champion adoption with senior leaders and business units. Lead and develop the data governance team; ensure consistent practices across domains, with quality, metadata and lineage in place. Oversee external/open data acquisition, licensing and sharing; ensure compliant, ethical usage. Drive data community engagement, stewardship and literacy; align with other digital communities. Monitor regulations and technology trends; introduce automation to scale assurance and reduce manual effort. What does it take to be an Enterprise Data Governance Manager? Expert in recognised governance frameworks; confident standard-setter and advocate. Strong people leadership; grows capability and drives consistent, outcomes-focused execution. Engaging communicator who bridges technical and non-technical stakeholders. Pragmatic, risk-based judgement on regulatory compliance and ethics. Improvement mindset; measures maturity and iterates continuously. Degree (or equivalent) with senior experience leading enterprise data governance.
