Primary Objectives of Position: The Energy Sales Specialist is a customer-focused role that serves as an energy expert for agricultural, commercial and residential customers. This position is responsible for selling and servicing energy products (such as propane and refined fuels), building strong customer relationships, assessing energy needs, and providing consultative guidance to improve efficiency. The role balances sales responsibilities with technical support while ensuring safety and delivering effective residential and agricultural energy solutions. Responsibilities of the Position: Evaluate current customer programs and develop marketing plans and initiatives to meet customer needs while driving growth for the cooperative. Collaborate with sales, marketing, distribution, operations, technical staff, and credit teams to enhance the effectiveness and impact of sales efforts. Identify customer needs and provide consultative solutions by leveraging established relationships along with product, marketing, and technical expertise. Prepare sales presentations, contracts, bids, and proposals to support successful transaction outcomes. Respond to and resolve customer inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner. Develop and maintain knowledge of multiple energy products and apply this expertise across all aspects of the role. Maintain and promote a strong safety culture by adhering to all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Perform all other duties as assigned. Qualifications Basic Qualifications (required): Minimum of 2 years of outside sales or equivalent experience, including product presentations, sales negotiations, preparing bids and proposals, and closing sales. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Preferred Qualifications (desired): Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Agriculture, or a related business-focused field. Additional outside sales experience, including presentations, persuasive negotiation, customer service, conflict resolution, and independent work. Experience in petroleum, refined fuels, or lubricants. Experience developing marketing plans, calculating margins, and managing profitability. Mechanical aptitude or understanding of equipment.
