Line of Service Advisory Industry/Sector Not Applicable Specialism Deals Management Level Senior Associate Job Description & Summary Closing date: 12 Dec Open to: SAs Qualification Criteria: Exam and time qualified or not currently on a PQ pathway Location: Birmingham About the Team The Retail, Consumer & Leisure (RCL) Corporate Finance team are sector specialists advising entrepreneurs, private equity investors, and corporates across a fast-evolving and dynamic consumer landscape. We advise on an exciting variety of transactions on both the sell side and the buy side, with a typical deal size of c.£50-300m+. Our team focuses on five core consumer sub-sectors, known internally as our “Oars”, which represent both our market focus and how we “row together” as one team. The boat analogy reflects how each oar contributes to the overall direction, momentum and success of the RCL business, with every sub-sector playing a critical role in driving performance and growth. About the Role As a Senior Associate, you’ll work as part of a collaborative team of dealmakers and sector specialists, helping our clients navigate complex and fast-paced transactions. Specific responsibilities include: Supporting live transactions end-to-end, from origination and marketing through to execution and completion; Preparing financial analysis and transaction marketing materials (IMs, teasers, management presentations, etc.); Conducting detailed market, financial and commercial research to support live and prospective deals; Assisting in business development activities, such as preparing pitch materials, researching potential clients and sectors, and contributing to client proposals; and Contributing to the team’s wider strategic initiatives (e.g., use of the latest AI and data tools to maximise the efficiency and quality of our work). Desired skills and qualifications include: ACA, CFA or equivalent qualification (or relevant deals experience); Strong financial analysis, valuation and modelling skills; Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly; Commercial acumen and an ability to think strategically about client businesses and market dynamics; Proactive mindset with strong attention to detail and organisational skills; Ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines in a fast-paced deal environment; Collaborative approach and ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams; and A genuine interest in the consumer landscape and passion for advising high-growth businesses.
