Job Description: The Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing and presenting accurate estimates for all potential projects, based on both client submissions and project plans. What You Will Do: Produce all costs for tender submission – material, labour, equipment, etc. to develop accurate quotations. Review and understand tender specifications and drawings and follow through with estimating process to develop competitive bids Conducting of necessary site visits for verification purposes if required Manage and evaluate Estimating process / procedure compliance and create consistency. Analyze current practices and pricing, identify areas for cost saving and process improvement. Participate in closing the bid, startup and wrap up meetings and debriefs following the project completion. Strategize and maintain communication with Suppliers and Customers. Draft proposals and submit tenders - meeting specialist requirements as needed. Prepare requests for quotations to obtain competitive pricing for suppliers, subs contractors, etc. Analyze current practices and pricing, identify areas for cost saving and process improvement. Where necessary, research and propose alternatives to improve cost efficiency. Maintain existing relationships and build new relationships with prospective clients to ensure business growth. Analyze data to help with decision-making and forecasting. Attending client meetings to provide estimates and explain cost factors. Work with the Director, Operations Manager, Project managers/coordinators and other team members to follow up on bids and budgets to close the business. Ensure timely completion of estimates. Processing and pricing of Change Orders for ongoing projects. What You Will Bring: Proven experience as an estimator or similar role within the construction or electrical industry. Sound knowledge of the electrical sub-trades scope of work. Good understanding of electrical drawings and ability to interpret schematics and P&ID's. Good understanding of industry practices, electrical trade scope and Bid Depository regulations. Thorough understanding of project specifications, tendering processes, and contract documents. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both written and oral. Ability to build relationships and work effectively within a team environment. Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple competing priorities and meet strict timelines. Superior proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel); knowledge of ACCUBID and/or LiveBid Estimating Software considered a strong asset. Experience using Blue Beam, AutoCAD or BIM would be considered an asset. About the company: For over half a century, Onni has been building communities for people to live, work, and play.
