Director of Arbor Care This position is ideal for individuals passionate about trees and landscapes, possess strong leadership and (Sales and Growth) management abilities, and are committed to delivering high-quality results while adhering to safety and environmental standards. Strategic Planning and Oversight: Develop and implement strategies for tree health, maintenance, and safety. Provide strategic sales growth by successfully maintaining and growing assigned territory. Operational Management: Oversee crew schedules, equipment, and materials to ensure efficient and effective tree care operations. Review operational records, monitor customer preferences and reports in order to project sales and service programs. Determine price schedules, discount rates and negotiate contracts and bid bill proposals. Supervise and coordinate daily activities of crews to grow territory. Ensure adherence to production schedules, budgets, safety guidelines, and quality standards. Oversee maintenance and care of the company's Fleet and equipment. Tree Care Expertise: Provide expert advice on tree health, maintenance, and safety. Oversee tree pruning, removal, and planting tasks. Evaluate tree health and provide recommendations for care. Conduct site inspections to ensure work progress and quality. Stay informed about industry trends, advancements, and best practices in arboriculture and landscaping. Team Leadership & Development: Plan and direct the recruiting needs of the assigned territory. Train and manage a team of skilled arborists and landscape professionals. Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture. Provide training and mentorship on best practices and safety protocols. Conduct performance appraisals and assist with hiring decisions. Client Relations & Business Development: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients. Educate clients on their landscape needs and provide recommendations and estimates. Ensure that contract specifications are met and customer satisfaction is achieved. Respond to client inquiries and resolve any concerns. Make client and prospect visits to diagnose and monitor landscapes, continuously looking at growing the business. Attend community and industry events to help promote the business. Safety and Compliance: Ensure a safe environment for employees and clients. Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures, adhering to company and industry standards. Manage and ensure employee education, training, and development related to safety. Budgeting and Financial Oversight: Manage budgets and track expenses for landscaping, and tree care projects. Order materials, equipment, and supplies within purchasing limits. Provide input on analyzing and forecasting future staff, projected sales growth, and material needs. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Tree Care / Arboriculture, or a related field, or equivalent work experience in strategic leadership roles. 5-10+ years in arboriculture with a proven track record in leadership and management roles. An MCA (mass Certified Arborist) and / or ISA Arborist Certification is required. Proven ability to successfully maintain and grow a sales territory. Proven experience leading and managing teams effectively, including training, mentoring, and performance management. Ability to make sound decisions, often in urgent situations. Strong knowledge of tree biology, identification, and various tree species. Expertise tree pruning techniques, removal methods, and risk assessment. Familiarity with soil analysis, plant health care programs, and irrigation systems. Ability to operate and maintain a variety of Tree Care equipment and tools. Understanding industry standards and best practices. Understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and P&L accountability. Experience with job costing and resource allocation. Ability to develop and implement strategies to achieve revenue and profitability goals. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with clients, team members, and other stakeholders. Strong customer service skills to build and maintain positive client relationships and grow the business. Ability to identify and solve tree health issues and operational challenges. Ability to perform physical labor and work outdoors in various weather conditions, potentially including working at heights.
