Job Description What is the opportunity? As part of the Group Risk Management team, the Director, Group Risk Management (Auto & Personal Lending) will act as the GRM lead and SME for the PL and AF businesses, and ensure risks inherent in new or amended products, services, initiatives, strategies, policies, processes, and systems are efficiently and accurately identified, assessed, mitigated, measured, controlled, and monitored, while balancing risk and reward to enable sustainable growth. This includes oversight and effective challenge of business risk appetite and contribution to the development of business risk appetite measures and constraints. What will you do? Provide strategic oversight to Credit Adjudication on their strategies, processes, and Delegated Lending Authorities (DLAs) specific to PL and AF products. Provide counsel to business partners on financial and non-financial risk matters and add value through specific expertise and recommendations. Together with the GRM Canadian Banking Credit Scoring and Strategies team, assess credit strategies and models impacting PL and AF portfolios. Monitor external events, relevant industry practices and the business environment, as well as internal changes and developments to identify emerging risks and enhance risk management practices. Maintain strong level of proactive risk monitoring: review and understand PL, PayPlan and AF portfolio performance, key metrics, and risk appetite; identify areas for further consideration or review and recommend actions and changes as appropriate. Liaise with business partners accordingly. Governance & Reporting and Enterprise Risk on key metrics and risk appetite measures that impact the Canadian Banking and Enterprise level risk appetite. Influence partners to develop and maintain a balanced risk mindset and an effective first line of defence within each business, supported by appropriate behaviours, oversight routines and controls. Reinforce the importance of risk identification, awareness, and advice through strong routines with key partners and stakeholders. Provide product specific and industry insights to Senior Management in GRM and key partners in Governance & Reporting, Investor Relations, etc. as needed. Demonstrate strategic thinking and agility across business segments outside of key areas of accountability, and provide thought leadership, subject matter expertise and guidance to business units outside of Canadian Banking and respective GRM peers, as required. Be seen as a trusted and respected partner by key stakeholders in the businesses and functions; add value through expertise and a solution mindset with win-win outcomes while promoting an environment of open dialogue and effective challenge. What do you need to succeed? Must Have In depth knowledge of Automotive Finance and/or In depth knowledge of Personal Lending Strong experience in risk management, with a solid understanding of the credit business, including product economics. Minimum 10 years experience in financial services and a full awareness of the strategic issues and opportunities facing the industry. University degree in a quantitative field of study (e.g., statistics, economics, business) – to demonstrate ability for critical thinking & numerical analytics Nice to Have Ability to generate unique, actionable insights & recommendations from analytics and use strong presentation skills to develop a compelling business case for them in from of senior management Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, innovate and make strategic decisions. Experience in developing a Test & Learn Environment and knowledge of designing & executing comprehensive Foundational Testing experience with application processing & credit scoring platforms What is in it for you?
