We are recruiting a Customs Administrator, based in Bury, UK.Job DescriptionJob Purpose To coordinate and create special requirement paperwork for international shipments, including key accounts, as well as taking ownership of the packing of special requirement shipments. To deal with dangerous goods paperwork. To provide administration assistance for the Despatch team. To monitor the Despatch inbox and provide prompt replies to other teams (onsite Monday - Friday). Key Responsibilities and AccountabilitiesTo monitor the Special Requirements Despatch Outlook inbox, action or assign the emails and ensure prompt responsesTo liaise with the Customer Services team to understand and agree despatch paperwork changes for specific customers/distributors (with relevant manager escalation where necessary)To implement agreed paperwork changes from a system point of viewTo ensure that the Special Requirements database is kept up-to-dateTo focus on the packing of special requirement shipments to ensure that all requirements are includedTo scan in the special requirements paperwork as soon as possible after the despatch of the samples and the relevant parties informedTo provide on-going analysis to streamline the international paperwork process and generate innovative solutionsTo coordinate the tracking of requirements by customer, country, scheme to ensure compliance and to identify opportunities for improvementTo understand and coordinate the robotic automation processes (where required)To produce despatch schedulesTo provide training to relevant staff members on best practiceAttend courses to acquire and maintain dangerous goods qualificationPrepare and print dangerous goods paperwork to ensure that LGC Bury is compliant with either IATA and/or ADR shipping regulationsTo produce manual air waybillsTo place purchase requisitions for items needed for the Despatch DepartmentOrganise the collection and delivery of goods via international and national carriers,including third party collectionsTo arrange ad-hoc collections of raw material and pallets, etcPerform the duties of other staff in their absence and assist other staff when necessaryTo ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with defined company procedures and statutory requirements, such as the Health and Safety at Work Act, COSHH, etCarry out any additional duties or tasks as directed that are commensurate with the role and positionPerson SpecificationA general good level of secondary education or relevant experience.
