Hiring Unit: Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE) Course Description: EDES 435-001: Teaching Secondary Science 2 Principles and procedures for implementation of the general science curriculum in the secondary schools of Québec. A survey of teaching methods and laboratory management appropriate to the junior and senior high school level. EDTL 626-001:Advanced Applied Methods in Teaching Science in Sec. School. Continuation of topics covered in EDTL 625. Parts of this course may be undertaken in school settings. Term: Winter 2026 Course Credits: 3 Location: EDUC 348 Schedule: Monday & Wednesday, 08:35 am-11:25 am Teaching Qualification Requirements: Education MA in a relevant field (i.e. science education) and/or extensive relevant experience as a school educator/pedagogue/community educator PhD or equivalent in a relevant field is an asset Experience 1. Expert knowledge of: Secondary science pedagogy, as outlined in the course description Scientific content and practices related to the secondary science curricula Research on secondary science pedagogy Research on secondary students’ scientific thinking and practice 2. Experience as a master teacher/instructor in science, mathematics, or a related field in the Quebec educational system 3. Knowledge of the Quebec Education Program (QEP) 4.Familiarity with the 13 professional competencies specified by the Ministère de l’Éducation. Other Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) at the undergraduate or graduate level Knowledge of the impact and proven record integrating pedagogical approaches anchored to equity, diversity and inclusion Familiarity using myCourses, ZOOM and other similar online platforms to facilitate quality teaching and learning experiences Familiarity teaching blended classes is an asset Familiarity with the application of a variety of digital teaching and learning tools Familiarity of and/or experience with practice-based pedagogies in science teacher education is an asset. Other information: Commitment to working with a team of committed and engaged instructors Must be available to attend course coordination and planning meeting minimum of 2 weeks in advance of course start date Number of positions available: 1 This course is not Team taught.
