Employee Type: Intern (Trainee) This program requires students currently pursuing an associate or technical welding degree, who have completed a portion of their curriculum, and will be completing their program after the co-op experience. This program is not designed for graduates. Work will be performed at a surface lignite coal mine. Job Description: Duties/Tasks: Perform welding repairs and fabrication on mining equipment Read and understand blueprints to assemble and fabricate parts from them Locate and repair cracks in metal parts and structural members Perform job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established safety procedures, and state and federal environmental regulations Other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong work ethic with effective communication skills and a creative and innovative attitude Ability to work efficiently in a team environment, as well as individually with minimal supervision Working knowledge of all phases of welding and cutting of metals and understanding metal properties Ability to read blueprints with knowledge of rigging procedures Valid Driver's license Ability to work 12 hour rotating shifts Educational Requirements: Enrolled in welding technical program and in good academic standing.
