Temporary position for 12 months As a consulting nurse for the Medical Office, you help develop and implement strategies for life and health insurance claims, occupational health, and disability management. You advise and support clients and partners on various initiatives related to major developments in your field. You propose solutions to improve or optimize standards, policies and programs. Your projects and initiatives require extensive knowledge of your line of work. You prepare recommendations, solutions and action plans based on the organization’s objectives and priorities. You help solve complex problems with your analytical skills and detailed knowledge of your line of business. Coordination is critical. You’ll be called on to interact with various parties from other fields with complementary expertise. Interpersonal savvy is therefore essential. More specifically, you will be required to: Identify issues, challenges, needs and problems to be resolved in your area of expertise to reach target outcomes Develop and help implement objectives, solutions and action plans, or recommend changes to disability management strategies and processes Review ongoing cases to verify the action plans for medical care and rehabilitation, and recommend measures to help insured individuals recover promptly and successfully return to work; coordinate to obtain diagnoses and medical opinions quickly, ensuring the validation of appropriate treatment plans Analyze data, conduct studies, make recommendations and write reports Take responsibility for cases that require specialized activities and plan an appropriate strategy for them Negotiate terms and conditions for returning to work with the client and all parties involved, including the attending physician Handle consultation requests with the Medical Office for complex cases, map out an action strategy and monitor the progress of the proposed solution Analyze complex cases submitted for consulting physicians to review, make sure they’re relevant, and, if necessary, propose alternative solutions or actions before requesting a medical opinion Serve as a resource person for various parties involved when assessing a medical strategy What we offer* Competitive salary and annual bonus 4 weeks of flexible vacation starting in the first year Defined benefit pension plan that provides predictable, stable income throughout retirement Group insurance including telemedicine Reimbursement of health and wellness expenses and telework equipment * Benefits apply based on eligibility criteria. What you bring to the table Bachelor's degree in a related field A minimum of four years of relevant experience Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered Be a member of and hold a valid practising licence issued by the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ) or the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
