We’re looking for a proactive and hands-on Chargehand to support the day-to-day running of our workshop at Stagecoach Merthyr. Working closely with the Workshop Manager, you’ll help lead our team, maintain high safety and quality standards, and keep our fleet safe, clean, and ready for the road. This is the ideal opportunity if you’re an experienced Technician looking for your first step into leadership and a chance to grow your career. What you’ll be doing: Supporting the Workshop Manager in the daily running of the Merthyr workshop Allocating work to Shift Technicians and cleaning staff to keep operations running smoothly Auditing vehicles, work quality, and staff compliance Ensuring all health & safety standards are followed and promoting a safe working environment Responding to breakdowns and supporting roadside assistance when required Completing reports, maintaining standards, and helping resolve operational issues Stepping in to cover Workshop Manager duties during holidays or absence Leading by example and fostering a positive, inclusive team culture What we’re looking for: A skilled Technician or Engineer ready to step into leadership Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance standards (PSV/HGV experience preferred) A safety-first mindset and great attention to detail Confident communicator with a proactive, can-do attitude Ability to support, guide, and motivate colleagues Organised, reliable, and comfortable making decisions A team player committed to high standards of performance and presentation Why choose Stagecoach?
