Team Overview: The Value-Add Investments team is a specialist business unit which invests client capital into pure and structured real estate equity investments across Europe, covering a broad spectrum of asset classes both directly, and via strategic relationships with operating partners (across living, retail, hospitality, office, and a variety of other niche sectors). The team manages a number of existing accounts and has recently secured a new $200m equity commitment to deploy in value-add strategies across Europe and the UK, with a target fund raise of $500m equity commitments over the next 3 years. Role: This Acquisitions role will be focused on evaluating and executing investment opportunities throughout Europe. The candidate will be responsible for analysing complex investment opportunities and supporting team members on all aspects of the investment process, including deal screening, underwriting, due diligence and subsequent investment management including client reporting. The candidate will be competent in financial modelling, regularly interact with external advisors, perform detailed due diligence, as well as preparing materials for both investment committee discussions, external client presentations and regular client reporting. The team is looking for entrepreneurial candidates who aren’t afraid to bring good ideas to the table. Accountabilities: Leading on new deal underwriting, financial modelling, structuring and completion mechanics, as well as supporting the team with negotiation and execution of legal documentation. Independently performing investment management workstreams pertaining to existing AUM under the team’s remit including financial modelling, buy/hold/sell analysis, and tracking of actuals vs. business plan. Preparation of internal investment committee materials and external client presentations on new deals and topics related to investment management workstreams. Liaison and coordination with internal LaSalle departments and external counterparties (e.g. operating partners, due diligence advisors etc) on both new deal execution and investment management workstreams. Required Qualifications & Experience: 3-5 years of experience, this person will be at a level of Associate equivalent in banking terms. Prior work experience in real estate private equity and/or development, real estate investment banking, institutional commercial real estate lending, with relevant deal specific exposure in Europe. Understanding of property fundamentals (including operational assets and business plans) across a wide set of asset classes, as well as a strong interest in real estate investment. Must be proficient in Excel financial modelling (i.e. cash flow/DCF/LBO/integrated corporate models) and experienced in PowerPoint. A detailed modelling test will be part of the interviewing process. Familiarity with more complex capital structures; including but not limited to preferred equity and mezzanine structures. Strong time management skills with ability to prioritise and work on a variety of projects simultaneously. European languages an advantage, although not a must.
