Job Description What is the opportunity? As an Associate Principal with RBC Capital Partners, you will be a key member of a small dynamic team. You will work to support the senior investment professionals in executing new investment opportunities, supporting existing portfolio investments, performing research, and conducting related quantitative and qualitative analysis. RBC Capital Partners provides junior capital (debt and equity) to support business transition, growth, acquisitions, management buyouts, leverage buyouts and recapitalizations. What will you do? Assessment of New Transactions: Assist in the initial assessment of mezzanine investment and minority equity opportunities with the ability to present and clearly communicate key findings to the senior investment professionals Proactively execute and manage the due diligence process Conduct industry research derived from a variety of internal and external sources providing insight on trends and risk areas Conduct company specific analysis of internal financial reporting as well as externally prepared reports (ex. quality of earnings) Detailed financial modeling – historical trend analysis, projections, working capital analysis, sensitivity analysis, etc. Interact with financial intermediaries, advisors and sponsors Portfolio Monitoring: Monitoring the monthly financial reporting of the Portfolio, including: review of internal financials, trend analysis, ongoing discussions with management regarding material differences from plan, and internal reporting to the team. Assist in the preparation of quarterly materials for the RBC Capital Partners Investment Committee What do you need to succeed? Must Have: Undergraduate degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., business, economics, engineering) Strength and experience in conducting industry research and developing insights to convey an investment thesis Strong verbal and written communications skills Problem solving and analytical skills Desire to take initiative and collaborate with senior team members Previous experience with financial modelling and investment valuation Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications specifically Excel, PowerPoint and Word Ability to handle multiple competing priorities across portfolio management, new transactions, and group administrative Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional work experience Nice to have: Graduate degree with a focus in Business CPA, CFA, CBV or other relevant professional designation Experience in mezzanine financing, investment banking, corporate finance, accounting, private equity and/or corporate development What’s in it for you?
