Supporting the growth of Mechanical design services in the UK and internationally across a range of projects. You will ensure compliance to relevant engineering standards meeting the requirements of the client remit, as well as relevant legislation, company standards, and client procedures. You will be based in our London office.ResponsibilitiesTo support growth of the Egis team, recruitment of technical and staff and manage the mentoring of junior engineersYou may be required to act in the role of Mechanical CRE within rail projects; responsible for the technical mechanical deliverables across the project.Plan and co-ordinate the activities of the mechanical design team (CAD/BIM, engineers, expert resources)Liaise with Client’s team for all related issues or decisions, represent design teams in meetings, provide technical opinion or support whenever neededProactively review design documentation to ensure compliance to standard and requirementsReview, evaluate and implement industry standards to ensure compliance of the engineering deliverables to the standards (quality)Coordinate the Quality aspects of the mechanical sub-systems deliverables as per the project Quality Management plan principlesReview and approve (wherever applicable) all deliverables, act as a technical control level across projectsMaintain and develop competency of the team within your discipline, including:Competency assessment,Professional reviews,Training plan,Guidance and mentoring to junior team members,And support the senior team in growing the technical capability of the discipline/businessSupport the senior team to implement efficient processes to manage safety assurance (including CDM, CSM-RA and interoperability), and Verification and Validation (V&V) technical assurancePromote sustainable design and development (Eco-Design)Promotion and encouragement of innovationYou may also work on:Biding opportunities across the UK and International business: to support the growth of revenue and capability of Egis.Projects for multiple commissions across the UK and International business.Technical Lead for some specific assignments, or,Technical Lead for projects with responsibility for all EDC production activities and outputs on the projects.QualificationsEssential:BSc or similar in Bachelor Degree (BEng, BSc) in a Numerate, Scientific or Engineering subject or Higher Education/equivalent training and experience.Chartered Engineer/Technician membership or equivalent professional status from a recognised institutionExtensive experience in Engineering / Technical functions, with experience as a Contractor’s Responsible Engineer (CRE) / Engineering Manager (CEM) in major infrastructure/transportation projectsAbility to communicate effectively to deliver on time to programmeProject and team-running experience in UK consultancy, client, or contractor organisationExcellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage, negotiate and manage key stakeholders and suppliersExcellent engineering, analytical and problem-solving abilitiesExperience of working in an engineering production environmentGood knowledge of UK design standards, such as Network Rail, HS2, TfL and National Highways.Excellent management skills with the ability to support, mentor and animate a team of engineers and techniciansExcellent knowledge and understanding of regulations (CDM, CSM, RIR)Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage, negotiate and manage key stakeholders and suppliersExcellent engineering, analytical and problem-solving abilitiesDesirable:Excellent knowledge of railway infrastructure/Highways systems, and operating requirementsUnderstanding of interdisciplinary within rail or Highways environmentExperience of working in design and build projectsA clear understanding of a multi-disciplinary design approach and the delivery of projects to a high quality, throughout all design stage gatesExperience of working with offshore global design production centres.An appreciation of environmental issues in engineering works, including low carbon designExcellent understanding of all relevant BIM standards, design integration procedures and relevant legislationKnowledge of quality assuranceYOU MUST HAVE THE RIGHT TO WORK IN THE UKEquality, Diversity & Inclusion We at Egis are an Equal Opportunities employer and we recognise the value of a Diverse Organisation.
