Starting Hourly Rate Based on Qualifications: $21.67 JOB SUMMARY, DESCRIPTION & QUALIFICATIONS: Job Summary The Student Services Assistant serves as the first point of contact for students, staff, and community members, providing support through phone, virtual platforms, and in-person interactions. This role is responsible for greeting visitors, assisting with admissions, registration, and financial aid referrals, and supporting processes like document collection, cashiering, and exam proctoring. Additional responsibilities include managing general office tasks, maintaining accurate records, troubleshooting basic technology issues, and facilitating class operations. Hours: Wausau Campus Position: Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday evenings (until 6 PM) and Saturdays, 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM on a rotational basis. Regional Campuses Position: Monday–Thursday, 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM; Friday, 7:30 AM to 12:00 PM; occasional Saturday hours. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Position may support projects across Student Services and other areas of the College to advance institutional goals and student success. While the regular schedule follows standard business hours, flexibility is required for occasional evening, weekend, or travel to other locations based on college events or operational needs. General Responsibilities Serve as the first point of contact, providing excellent customer service via phone, email, or in person. Assist with general office tasks, including scheduling appointments, managing data entry, and maintaining student correspondence. Support special projects, community events, and campus initiatives. Guide students on processes related to admissions, financial aid, academic appeals, and document submission in Workday. Learn and utilize software applications, including Workday, Canvas, Formstack, and Microsoft Office, while supporting IT upgrades and troubleshooting. Process student registrations and maintain accurate records. One-Stop Team (Wausau-Based Position) Facilitate admissions and enrollment, assisting students with applications, testing, and program readiness. Correspond with applicants to clarify next steps and ensure a smooth transition from application to enrollment. Collaborate with Student Services teams to address equity gaps and reduce barriers to enrollment. Develop and implement innovative communication strategies using technology to enhance applicant engagement. Regional Campus Teams Provide first-level technical support and basic training for staff and students on campus technology. Act as a facilitator for campus classes, managing room setup, technology coordination, and troubleshooting. Complete unique campus-specific tasks, such as coordinating catering, handling facilities tasks when staff is unavailable, and ensuring classroom readiness. Maintain updated knowledge of district technology and support computer lab operations. Minimum Qualifications Required In limited circumstances, NTC may consider a combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position. Education: One Year Certificate (or Equivalent) One-year post-secondary education appropriate to the position responsibilities, or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through occupational experience, or an equivalent combination of postsecondary education and occupational experience. Experience: <1 Year Knowledge, Skills and Abilities In order to perform the functions and responsibilities of the position (listed above) the following knowledge, skills, and abilities, including language skills, reasoning and mathematical abilities are essential. Technical Skills: Ability to manage and track document changes; create, modify and format templates and files; ability to use multiple computer screens and multitask in several computer applications. Customer Service Skills: Ability to actively listen, discern key information, and respond professionally; ask follow up or clarifying questions to diffuse escalated situations and offer appropriate problem resolution when necessary. Other Requirements Requires excellent organizational skills, understanding of computer systems, ability to work with a diverse staff, confidentiality, accuracy in work with independent judgment and initiative, and courtesy and tact in dealing with students and staff. Familiarity with basic computer technologies and software applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the ability to learn and adapt to new systems, such as Workday, Canvas, and other college-related platforms. A willingness to troubleshoot basic technology issues and a comfort level using virtual communication tools are preferred.
