Asphalt Assistant Manager – £35,000 - £40,000 + Company Van Location: Can be based at Dagenham, Ardingly, Bulls Lodge or Allington Reporting to: Production Manager Role Overview We are looking for an Asphalt Assistant Manager to support the Management Team in driving operational excellence and continuous improvement across our asphalt production operations. This role is pivotal in ensuring efficiency, compliance, and high performance in all aspects of production, distribution, and quality. This is a great opportunity for someone ready to progress into management, offering exposure to strategic projects and leadership responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Health & Safety: Operate to the highest standards in line with Heidelberg Materials’ Health & Safety Plan and lead continuous improvement initiatives. Environmental: Ensure compliance with environmental objectives and implement improvement plans. Compliance: Adhere to all statutory legislation and company regulations across operational activities. Operations: Assist in achieving optimum production levels at the lowest operational cost while driving efficiency improvements. Distribution: Collaborate with logistics to deliver exceptional customer service at minimal cost. Quality: Work with technical teams to maintain top-quality standards efficiently. Business Analysis: Support management in ensuring accurate operational data and identifying profit-enhancing opportunities. Additional Responsibilities Resource Planning: Assist in ensuring adequate resourcing, training, and development of personnel. Support succession planning and asset readiness. Leadership: Provide direction and motivation within the site team, ensuring goals and expectations are clear. Control: Implement operational control mechanisms across health & safety, environmental compliance, capital projects, and cost management. Involvement in strategic projects that shape the future of our operations., operational efficiency, continuous improvement, lean and rap projects Provide cover for Managers across different sites when required. Drive quality, safety, and sustainability standards in asphalt production. Requirements Strong leadership and communication skills. Experience in asphalt or similar production environment. Knowledge of health & safety, environmental, and compliance standards. Ability to analyze operational data and drive efficiency improvements. Proficiency in MS Office and relevant operational systems. Ability to work across multiple sites and manage priorities effectively.
