Overview The Assistant Finance Manager will be highly skilled, detail-oriented and provide crucial oversight of our financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, robust financial control, and providing ad hoc analysis to support strategic decision-making. Reporting directly to the Director, Strategic Finance & Financial Control, this individual will be crucial in helping to lead the day to day operations of the Finance team. This is a critical role within the business, offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to the company’s financial success and long-term strategy. Key Responsibilities Month-End Close Management: Lead the month-end process, managing all journals, accrual & prepayment schedules, and coordinating with the AP team to ensure a timely, accurate closure. P&L and Balance Sheet: Take full ownership of the General Ledger, maintaining the integrity of the P&L and Balance Sheet through rigorous monthly reconciliation. Management Reporting: Produce high-quality monthly management accounts packs, including commentary and variance analysis against prior month and forecast. Revenue Assurance: Manage the end-to-end revenue recognition process, ensuring the accuracy of revenue reconciliations across different channels. Payroll Accounting: Manage payroll postings in Xero, ensuring accurate journal entry and seamless reconciliation with payroll reports. Compliance & VAT: Manage the preparation and submission of VAT returns, ensuring compliance with current tax regulations. Audit Coordination: Act as one of the primary liaisons during the year-end audit, preparing schedules and managing queries to support a smooth sign-off. Process Improvement: Continuously review financial controls and workflows to drive efficiency and reduce manual processing. Ad-Hoc Support: Assist the wider finance team and business with various projects and financial analysis as required. Key Skills Part-qualified/qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent). Strong knowledge of core financial reporting principles gained through transferable industry experience. Experience gained in a similar role, ideally within retail, e-commerce or tech industries, or in other related start-up/scale-up businesses. Proven ability to work independently, manage key P&L areas and automate processes. Analytical skills with a strategic mindset. Strong communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders. Proficient in financial systems (Xero experience is beneficial) High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
