Job Description: The Assistant Director, Advancement Data and Board Support (ADBS) will report to the Executive Director of Advancement, the Batten School & VIMS. The ADBS is the lead staff for data reporting and analysis and the primary support for the VIMS Foundation Board of Directors. The ADBS is a business and data strategy partner to gift officers and the direct response marketing (DRM) team for invitation and mailing list creation and overall program development. Responsibilities include the ongoing analysis of DRM strategies for continual improvement. The ADBS serves as a consultant to the DRM, proactively suggesting data segmentation, and targeting strategies to advance the success of campaigns and sharing campaign performance analysis. The ADBS will continuously work with Executive Director on the creation of new reports and data visualizations for presentations and publications. The ADBS provides board meeting support for the VIMS Foundation Board of Directors including meeting logistics, coordination of materials and maintenance of the Board meeting database. The ADBS serves as the primary staff support for the VIMS Foundation Board. Core responsibilities also include, but are not limited to: Oversight responsibility for data integrity across Batten School/VIMS and W&M systems. Serves as the primary liaison with W&M staff on data clean up, data loading, data exchanges, and constituent data management and policy issues. Analyzes and creates reports using data collected from development, and marketing efforts as well as post-event and/or post-campaign surveys to determine effectiveness of efforts, guide future directions, and inform and mobilize key constituencies. Serves as the primary staff for the VIMS Foundation Board, responsible for the maintenance of the Board management software and the logistical planning for Board and committee meetings. Manages special projects as assigned. Required Qualifications: EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience directly related to the position. EXPERIENCE: Experience building queries, configuring resources and producing reports in a variety of formats. Experience using a spreadsheet for mail merge and managing a constituent database for large mailings. Experience with meeting management, board support and/or event planning COMPETENCIES: Knowledge of basic marketing principles and processes, and creative data strategies. Working knowledge of broad reporting needs, goals and data requirements. Strong knowledge of databases with the ability to build/develop queries. Familiarity with Boards and meeting management. Proficiency in a variety of software applications, particularly MS Office (Outlook, Word, OneNote), with demonstrated advanced skills in Excel and CRM. Strong planning skills with the ability to develop scheduling methods and coordinate logistical details. Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Bachelor’s degree. COMPETENCIES: Effective communication skills and the ability to work well in teams. Working knowledge of CRM databases. Knowledge and skills using an Event Management Systems (EMS). Project Management EXPERIENCE: Experience using Constant Contact, Event Management Systems (EMS) and/or other similar web based applications. Experience working with data in a fundraising environment. Experience with boards and meeting management. Salary- up to $60,000.00 commensurate with experience Conditions of Employment: This position may require additional-hours beyond the typical workweek to include evenings and weekends to meet the needs of the business operation.
