Meadowhead Ltd Job Title: Assistant Accountant Status: Full-time, permanent contract (Part-time also considered) Reports to: Finance and Administration Manager Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum / Negotiable depending on experience Benefits: Free staff parking, pension and 28 holidays per annum Employer Meadowhead Limited is a medium-sized, well-established and growing leisure business, whose core business is operating holiday parks in Edinburgh, East Lothian and Northumberland. Meadowhead is a well-diversified and privately-owned company with various enterprises located in Berwickshire, East Lothian, Edinburgh & Northumberland. Other business activities including farming, fishing, property lets, and bar & restaurants. Role The Assistant Accountant position will be primarily based out of Meadowhead's Company Support Office in Edinburgh. The location is on Mortonhall Estate, a beautiful country estate and only 4 miles from the heart of Edinburgh. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a small and friendly team in what is a key, stimulating and varied role. We are looking for a positive, reliable and enthusiastic team member to provide support and add value to the business. The successful candidate will naturally pay close attention to detail and have excellent time management and organisational skills. Working closely with various offices at Mortonhall and elsewhere; strong communications skills are essential, be it face-to-face, on the telephone or online e.g. MS Teams. Appropriate training and study support will be offered where required. Key Responsibilities The purpose of the role of Assistant Accountant is to provide day to day support to the Finance and Administration Manager. The Assistant Accountant will help drive forward Meadowhead's leisure businesses and other enterprises. Accurately processing sales invoices, purchase invoices and expenses. Posting daily receipts and payments. Completing bank and other reconciliations. Processing month end payments and other payments as required. Reporting on debtors and creditors. Preparing and filing vat and other returns. Assisting with budgets and forecasts. Assisting in preparation of monthly management accounts. Reporting and analysis of the food and beverage operations. Managing day-to-day transactions. Preparing month end journals including accruals and prepayments. Liaising with auditors at year end. Assisting the finance department and senior management with various tasks and reports. Recommending new systems, processes and software. Other tasks as required. Key Skills and Attributes Excellent computer skills and the ability to pick-up/recommend new software/IT solutions Knowledge of Farmplan or Xero accounting software may be advantageous. F&B accounts experience advantageous. Qualified, qualified by experience, part-qualified or looking to undertake training. Articulate with strong verbal and written communication skills. The ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels. Drive, proactivity and motivated. Flexible “can do” attitude and an excellent team player. Self-starter with ability to use own initiative. Able to work under pressure and to deadlines. Ideally hold a full and clean driving licence. Closing Date Monday 22nd December 2025
