The Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency (SAMA) is an independent agency that develops and administers property assessment policy for the province, and provides property appraisal services to over 750 of Saskatchewan’s urban and rural municipalities. About the Opportunity As an Appraiser, you’ll play a key role in shaping fair and accurate property assessments for the Moose Jaw Region. This full-time role offers a unique balance of fieldwork and office-based analysis, giving you the chance to see projects through from first inspection to final valuation. What You’ll Do Gather assessment data of properties firsthand through site inspections and conversations with owners Ensure fair and accurate valuations of residential and commercial properties through the application of mass appraisal principles, legislation, and internal policies and procedures Leverage technology by entering and analyzing data in our advanced mass appraisal system Engage with people by researching and responding to enquiries from the public and municipal officials What We’re Looking For We’re seeking someone who brings both an aptitude for technical knowledge and strong people skills to the role. The ideal candidate has: Formal property assessment education, a university degree, or a post-secondary diploma from a recognized institution Excellent quantitative, analytical, and statistical research skills Strong public relations and communication skills to build positive relationships with property owners and stakeholders Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities The ability to exercise sound judgment and make thoughtful, quality-driven decisions Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) A valid Class 5 driver’s licence, with a willingness to travel to perform inspections Although this position will work in the Moose Jaw Region, the successful candidate will be given the option to work from either the Moose Jaw Regional Office or from Central Office in Regina, SK.
