The role What will you be doing? 12 Application Support Engineer Hybrid – Basingstoke or Dorking What will you bring? We are hiring an Application Support Engineer to provide technical leadership and expertise across UK applications, ensuring the stability and performance of both production and non-production environments. You will manage complex technical issues, drive rapid resolution of service interruptions, and maintain high service standards for internal and external customers. You’ll also support small business changes and enhancements, working independently and mentoring junior team members when needed. Responsibilities and Requirements: • Design and implement processes to improve service availability, monitoring, and performance. • Apply preventative and corrective measures to enhance system reliability and release quality. • Lead the resolution of application incidents, performing root cause analysis and implementing permanent fixes. • Manage application releases and deployments with minimal disruption. • Communicate effectively with teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to support ongoing service improvement. About You: • Proven background in Application Support, with strong problem-solving, decision-making, and incident management skills. • Proficient in ITIL and Agile methodologies, with hands-on experience in automation, scripting (e.g. Python, Shell), and monitoring tools (e.g. Splunk, AppDynamics, Control-M). • Sound knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS), RDBMS, network protocols (TCP/IP), and development/configuration tools (e.g. GIT, Jenkins, TFS). • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organisational skills, with a proactive approach and ability to work effectively under pressure.
