The Early Talent Program Designed for ambitious new graduates and early-career professionals, this two-year program will give you comprehensive exposure to institutional investing. You will gain a broad understanding of finance through becoming a member of I&RR’s investment team and exposure to different types of investing including private markets, public markets, and debt instruments. Analysts will develop their technical and soft skills through a customized training and development program as well as on the job experience. This program offers valuable international and cross-functional exposure, including potential travel opportunities for deal execution or portfolio company engagement. You’ll be paired with a dedicated mentor who will provide coaching and guidance to support your development. Additionally, you’ll have networking opportunities with BCI professionals and industry peers. THE ROLE As an Analyst, you’ll be an integral part of our investment team contributing to (1) due diligence of prospective investments, (2) proactive engagement with portfolio companies owned by I&RR, and (3) executing on strategic initiatives across the portfolio. Investment Due Diligence Work within an integrated deal team to conduct due diligence on direct private, public, debt, or fund investments Develop financial models with sensitivity analysis to evaluate investment opportunities Collaborate with internal and external teams to support commercial, technical, ESG and other workstreams Synthesize and present findings to senior leadership in investment presentations and memos Portfolio Company Engagement Support business strategy development and budget planning for I&RR’s portfolio companies as well as addressing other pertinent issues confronting Board and management teams Monitor and report on portfolio companies’ performance, as well as support on valuations Evaluate and support strategic initiatives such as bolt-on acquisitions, divestitures, and expansion projects Strategic Initiatives Research industries, companies, and markets to support origination activities Contribute to geographic strategic reviews to support origination and portfolio initiatives Build institutional knowledge on evolving trends and investment challenges/opportunities QUALIFICATIONS Undergraduate university degree from a relevant field (Business, Finance, Economics, or equivalent) Relevant internships (new grads) or up to 3 years of experience within private equity, investment banking, management consulting, corporate M&A, investment management, or other suitable background Understanding of private market investing and strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities Excellent written and verbal communication skills A team player that thrives in a fast-pace, team-oriented environment Demonstrates natural curiosity, an inquisitive mindset, and an eagerness to learn Exhibits a high level of integrity, professionalism, and excellent interpersonal skills Beneficial but not required: Experience in or knowledge of infrastructure, forestry, or agriculture investments Additional language capabilities and/or international exposure Progress towards a relevant professional designation (e.g., CFA etc.) SALARY RANGE The annualized base salary range for this Victoria-based role is CAD $94,000 to $115,000. BCI offers a competitive total rewards package, including a performance-based incentive plan, comprehensive health & dental benefits, a defined benefit pension plan, and paid time off. We pay our people competitively in the markets in which we operate and with consideration for internal equity and job structure. The base salary will consider factors such as the individual's skill set, experience, and internal equity. We aim for actual pay to be around the market median for expected performance and the upper quartile for excellent performance. Actual salaries may vary based on experience and expertise.
