Position Summary: 

Join Downtown Dallas, Inc. as a Lead Ambassador and play a vital role in creating an unforgettable experience for visitors, employees, and residents. This position combines leadership, community engagement, and event activation to make Downtown Dallas vibrant, safe, and welcoming. The Lead Ambassador oversees a team of Ambassadors, ensuring exceptional customer service, promoting local businesses, and activating public spaces with engaging activities. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong communication skills and a passion for Downtown Dallas. 

Goals and Objectives:  

  • Deliver world-class customer service through positive, helpful interactions.  
  • Maintain a visible, uniform presence to ensure Downtown feels safe and inviting.  
  • Collaborate with local businesses to promote services, events, and attractions.  
  • Lead and grow the Ambassador team through tours, experiences, and activations. 

Essential Functions: 

Leadership & Team Development 

  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, and mentoring Ambassadors. 
  • Foster a positive team culture that aligns with DDI’s mission, values, and service standards. 
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and ongoing performance feedback. 

Operational Oversight 

  • Develop and execute Ambassador deployment plans to maximize visibility and resource effectiveness. 
  • Monitor daily operations, adjust coverage, and support field team needs in real-time. 
  • Ensure consistent adherence to safety, service, and operational protocols. 

Community Engagement 

  • Serve as an expert on Downtown Dallas, offering directions, visitor assistance,  and local recommendations. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with businesses, property managers, and  stakeholders. 
  • Represent DDI at programs, tours, special events, and community activations. 

Event Activation 

  • Support and participate in park activations, programming efforts, and public events. 
  • Assist in preparing, setting up, and executing experiences that enhance Downtown’s vibrancy. 

Reporting & Quality Assurance 

  • Track daily activities and performance metrics, document service issues or opportunities. 
  • Provide timely reports and updates to the Coordinator and Director of Programming & Events. 
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency in all reporting tools and communication channels.

Requirements

  

The following duties and responsibilities for the Lead Ambassador are as follows, but not limited to:
 

Education & Experience 

  • High school diploma or GED required; some college or higher education  preferred. 
  • Prior supervisory, lead, or team-lead experience strongly encouraged. 
  • Experience in hospitality, customer service, events, or public-facing roles is a plus 

Technical Skills 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). 
  • Comfort with basic web-based applications and reporting tools. 
  • Bilingual ability is preferred. 

Other Requirements 

  • Valid driver’s license is required. 
  • Ability to walk, stand, or remain outdoors for extended periods, in varying weather conditions. 
  • Ability  to lift and carry up to 45 lbs. safely 
  • Must have a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. 
  • Willingness to wear and maintain a professional uniform appearance. 
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills. 
  • Familiarity with (and passion for) Downtown!
