The Allegro team is united by a clear purpose—advancing technologies that make the world safer, more efficient, and more sustainable. With over 30 years of experience in semiconductor innovation, we bring that purpose to life across every part of the business—from breakthrough product development and customer success to how we show up for each other and the communities we serve. Final-Year Engineering Internship (6 Months): Advanced Sensor System Engineer Intern Project Overview As electric powertrains become increasingly prevalent, the demand for advanced sensors is growing rapidly. These sensors are critical for optimizing energy efficiency, enhancing performance, and delivering a natural, responsive user experience (e.g., providing intuitive feedback). Existing sensors, however, often present significant integration challenges; they can be complex, bulky, and require difficult, costly calibration across various operating parameters. To address these challenges and simplify system design for our customers, Allegro is developing an innovative sensor solution that eliminates these common pain points. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a cutting-edge project by building a fully functional demonstrator for this next-generation technology. Internship Objectives & Key Responsibilities The primary goal of this internship is to design, build, and validate a standalone demonstrator of an advanced sensor system. Key responsibilities will include: Research & Analysis: Conduct a comprehensive review of existing technologies and competing solutions through literature research and product teardowns. System Design: Design and develop a novel electromagnetic system for sensors mounted on a rotating shaft. Simulation & Validation: Perform detailed electromagnetic simulations to validate the design, accounting for manufacturing tolerances and other real-world variables. Prototyping: Construct a professional, self-contained demonstrator to showcase the technology to key customers and internal stakeholders. Innovation: Contribute innovative ideas for future system enhancements and performance improvements. Required Qualifications: Currently enrolled in the final year of a Master's or engineering degree program in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or Physics. Strong theoretical background in your field of study. Proficiency with MATLAB or an equivalent simulation and analysis tool. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. Preferred Skills & Attributes: Hands-on experience with PCB design software (e.g., Altium, EAGLE). Familiarity with electromagnetic modeling software (e.g., ANSYS Electronics, HFSS). Practical experience with standard lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc.). A proactive and curious mindset with a keen interest in working within a global, multicultural team.
