Job Title Actuarial Officer Written By (Signature and Date) Lester Muyot Reports To Actuarial Manager Incumbent (Signature and Date) -- Division/Department Finance/Actuarial Approved By (Signature and Date) -- Job Reference -- Approved By (Signature and Date) -- Job Purpose Perform actuarial modeling and relevant strategic functions while working closely with other functional units to help ensure the company’s accurate and timely financial reporting. Critical Accountabilities Key Result Areas Major Activities Output Challenges and Risks 1 – Actuarial Modeling • Adequately capture the elements of Life Actuarial models both inside and outside of to produce reliable financial projections. • Prepare data inputs, setup and run Actuarial models, and provide insights to the results of key financial metrics (reserving and value measurement). • Provide support in ad-hoc projects such as Strategic Planning, Assumption Changes, Capital Allocation, and IFRS17. • Prophet models including data inputs from different stakeholders • Timely and accurate delivery of model runs • Analyses include adequate reasoning and insight on movement of key metrics (policy information, reserves, profits) • Reporting of model changes • Process improvements • System dependencies for policy data; accuracy and timeliness of accounting information • Managing different stakeholders (with IT, Accounting, Investment, Group, GBS etc.) 2 – Model Governance • Ensure full compliance to the Local Model Governance Policy with respect to assumption changes, model enhancements, and model validation. • Facilitate updates in the process documentations of key Actuarial processes. • Controls, assessments on data quality • Detailed checks and data indices • Maintenance of Actuarial models and assumptions • Model inventory and documentation • Time management and resiliency • Detailed controls and documentation • Data quality 3 – Resource pool • Become part of the Finance resource pool and assist in other finance and actuarial tasks according to the secondary function assignment • Actuarial and financial reports, papers, and commentary • Time management and resiliency Key Decisions/Dimensions Decisions Quantifiable Data Related to Job • Determine priorities, set objectives and procedures to accomplish goals for the actuarial modeling function and other actuarial/finance functions. • Decide within authority and elevate recommendation to higher authority for decisions outside own authority. • Produce high-quality reports, analytics documentation, and commentary. Skills and Knowledge Educational Qualifications Relevant Experience • Graduate of BS Mathematics, BS Accountancy, BS Statistics, or other related courses • At least two (2) years’ experience in life insurance finance or similar experience Personal Characteristics/Behaviors Other Requirements • Knowledge in Prophet or other Actuarial softwares preferred • Detail-oriented • Delivers outputs on schedule • Highly developed analytical and problem solving skills • Able to collaborate effectively with customers and/or colleagues outside own team structure • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
