Job Description Job Title Resident Program Manager, Activity/Recreation Lead Qualifications Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, gerontology, kinesiology or other related field from a community college or university. Technical Competencies Working Knowledge of: Human Resources Management & Labour Relations, Complaint Resolution, Public Relations, Financial Management and Budgeting Principles, Long Term Care Industry, Applicable Contractual & Legislative Requirements, CQI Principles, Project Management Principles, Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, Facilitation Skills. Experience • Relevant experience in a health care setting required, preferably in long term care; • Supervisory experience; • Experience in assessing activation needs, development, implementation and evaluation of activation programs; • Sufficient knowledge and experience to coordinate religious services and spiritual care in a multi-faith setting strongly preferred; • Relevant experience facilitating programs with seniors or with persons in a healthcare setting strongly preferred; • Experience or knowledge in recruitment, selection, orientation, placement and supervision of volunteers strongly preferred. • Knowledge and Experience with facilitating activities for residents experiencing Responsive Behaviors or Mental Health Diagnosis. Key Responsibilities: • Assessing residents' needs and developing programs to meet these needs • Achieving Resident Satisfaction Survey targets • Evaluating and improving recreation programs • Facilitating various programs and events for residents - Living our values and ensuring others on your team do to • Grow and evaluate an active volunteer program to support residence needs • Collaborate - Work with the Executive Director, residents and staff to develop engaging recreation programs that meet the needs of the residents. • Manage - Effectively manage staff and volunteers within approved budgets. • Roll-up your sleeves - To facilitate and provide opportunities for meaningful recreational programs. • Comply - Ensure policies, procedures, processes and systems are in place and being monitored. • Cultivate - To promote Resident autonomy, independence and advocacy, including Residents' rights and a culture of non-abuse. Promoting resident's council and attending meetings as required. • Create - Create a newsletter and recreation calendar to promote programs and engage residents.
