This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a UNIX Systems Engineer in the United States.

This role provides a unique opportunity to manage, maintain, and optimize enterprise UNIX server environments in a dynamic and technology-driven setting. As a UNIX Systems Engineer, you will support Linux and AIX platforms, implement automation through scripting and Ansible, and ensure system performance, reliability, and security. You will actively contribute to system deployments, incident resolution, and capacity planning, while collaborating with cross-functional teams on innovative solutions. This position also involves participation in on-call rotations, working on mission-critical tasks, and enhancing operational efficiency through Infrastructure as Code (IaC). It’s an ideal role for a proactive engineer who enjoys problem-solving, continuous learning, and working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Accountabilities

  • Deploy, configure, integrate, and maintain UNIX server-based operating systems including Linux and AIX.
  • Manage SAN-based storage assignments and IBM Power Series servers (8, 9, 10, 11).
  • Write and maintain Ansible playbooks and Python scripts to automate administrative tasks.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve performance, capacity, and user issues on UNIX platforms.
  • Support ESX VCenter and Nutanix AHV tasks including deployments, migrations, and API integrations.
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call rotations for high-priority incidents.
  • Maintain documentation for team processes, operational procedures, and system deployments.
  • Ensure integrity, security, and availability of all UNIX-based enterprise servers in compliance with organizational standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of experience supporting UNIX platforms, with a focus on Linux server technologies.
  • 1+ year experience using Ansible and Python for automation.
  • Familiarity with container technologies such as Kubernetes.
  • Working knowledge of high availability and load balancing technologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting, performance analysis, and capacity planning skills.
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration with technical teams and stakeholders.
