Behind it all is a team of ambitious VFXers who think like founders, never stop learning, and go the extra mile to help our clients succeed. About the Role We’re looking for a sharp, curious, and detail-oriented Transaction Monitoring Analyst to join VFX and play a key role in protecting our platform and clients from financial crime. In this role, you’ll learn how financial crime risks such as money laundering, fraud, and sanctions breaches are identified in real-world payments and FX activity. You’ll review transaction alerts, analyse patterns and behaviours, and work with the wider Transaction Monitoring team to determine whether activity is legitimate or needs to be escalated for further investigation. You’ll develop strong analytical, investigative, and decision-making skills while gaining hands-on exposure to how regulated financial institutions operate. No prior experience is required — just a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, good judgement, and a genuine interest in financial crime, operations, or risk. Key Responsibilities Transaction Monitoring & Investigations Review and assess system alerts to help identify unusual or potentially suspicious activity, such as money laundering, fraud, sanctions risk, or other financial crime indicators. Investigate alerts by analysing transaction activity, customer information, and supporting data, with guidance from more experienced team members. Prepare clear and structured investigation summaries explaining what you’ve reviewed and how you reached your conclusion. Escalate cases that require further review in line with internal procedures, supporting senior colleagues in deciding whether activity needs to be formally reported to regulators. Support reviews that look at patterns or trends across higher-risk customers, countries, or types of activity as you gain experience. Maintain accurate, complete, and audit-ready records of investigations and decisions. System & Process Enhancement Share observations on alert quality, common patterns, and false positives to help improve how the monitoring system works over time. Assist with documenting updates to monitoring rules, scenarios, and workflows. Contribute ideas to improve team processes, controls, and efficiency. Policy, Governance & Reporting Apply VFX’s internal policies and escalation processes as part of your day-to-day work. Build an understanding of key financial crime regulations and industry standards (with training and support provided). Support quality checks, internal reviews, and reporting to help ensure the team meets regulatory expectations. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with teams such as Onboarding, Risk, and Compliance to develop a broader understanding of customers and their activity. Support the wider Compliance team with insights, reporting, and identifying emerging patterns or risks. Candidate Profile Bachelor’s degree (2:1 or above) or equivalent experience in a relevant analytical field (Economics, Mathematics, Law etc.) A sharp, detail-oriented individual with a strong interest in compliance, financial crime, or risk. Comfortable analysing information, spotting patterns, and forming logical conclusions. Strong written communication skills and the ability to explain findings clearly and concisely. Curious, motivated, and keen to learn in a fast-paced, regulated environment. Organised, reliable, and able to manage multiple tasks with accuracy.
