We’re seeking a passionate and reliable Head Chef to lead the kitchen of a prominent independent school in Huddersfield. You’ll inspire the team, delight students and staff with nutritious fresh dishes, and take pride in helping to create a positive environment that supports learning and wellbeing. Key Responsibilities – School Catering Head Chef Lead the day-to-day kitchen operation in accordance with school food standards Deliver exciting, healthy, and seasonal menus for pupils, staff, and visitors Inspire, supervise, and develop the kitchen team to achieve excellence Maintain exceptional standards of hygiene, food safety, and allergen management Monitor food production, stock control, and minimize food waste Ensure compliance with all food safety, health, and safety regulations Support special events, functions, and parents’ evenings as required Foster a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive kitchen culture Experience & Skills – Temp Head Chef, Huddersfield School Previous experience as a chef manager, head chef, or senior sous in high-volume catering – school, education, B&I, or contract catering experience desirable Strong leadership and communication skills A genuine commitment to serving nutritious food and supporting young people’s health Keen attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness Valid Food Hygiene and Allergen Certificates (Level2+ preferred; training can be provided) Immediate availability and enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain) Why Join as an Independent School Temp Head Chef?
