The GCIO (Group Chief Information Office) COO function operates as the backbone of the GCIO organisation, taking ownership and accountability for all operational aspects to ensure a seamless running of the GCIO business to exceptionally high standards. Aligned to the overall HSBC business structure, focused on continuous improvement and simplification to support GCIO to a consistent high quality, GCIO COO acts as a key enabler to the firm’s ambition to ‘be the most trusted bank globally, putting customers at the heart of everything we do’. The Enterprise Technology is a large function comprising ~$700m direct budget, ~5300 employees globally and covering 11 governed portfolios rolling up to 6 OpCo members. This role is part of the COO GBGF Vendor Management pillar which aims to manage all GCIO/technology vendors is a consistent and best practice manner. Vendor Management’s goal is to create consistent and structured approach to managing technology vendors throughout their lifecycle – from selection to renewal or exit – maximising value, addressing risk and aligning performance with business goals. The role holder will be responsible for end-to-end Vendor Management within Enterprise Technology to establish strategy & best practice, partnering closely with Procurement and Risk functions across all stages of the Vendor lifecycle. They will drive all aspects of the vendor management process, ensuring adherence to governance frameworks in place. In this role you will: Ensure alignment of key parties to agree objectives and support the development of the Tech/Business strategy to deliver. Ensure both a vertical and horizontal view is considered through value streams and co-design structures so that services are not duplicated and that there is a cohesive strategy around our service providers and tooling – this will need to happen for not only new deals but also with the current landscape of providers. Provide 3rd party requirements to procurement. The role provider will also manage strategic relationship with fin techs, technology AI companies and also work with business in strategizing vendor management strategy for Innovation and venture arm of GCIO. Build Vendor Management practices in managing new age AI tech companies and fin techs working with tech leads, procurement, finance, risk and legal to manage third party life cycle in an efficient manner. AOP (Annual Operating Plan) and SCO (Supply chain optimisation) – Working with project teams to identify, plan and execute cost optimisations initiatives. To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements: Proven track record in technology vendor management role within the financial services industry, preferably within multinational banks Demonstrable experience in driving vendor performance, delivering service improvement plans and managing vendors across all contract types (T&M, Manage Services, hardware and software) Contract knowledge and able to design contracts to meet the requirements of the business Strong understanding of Technology operational management requirements for banks and knowledge of the external environment - regulatory, political, competitor and market Ability to translate technology strategy and align with vendors accordingly Proven experience managing Third Party Spend (TPS) approval process. Demonstratable experience managing Third-Party Engagement Management (TPEM) tasks completion, vendor performance, and all associated risk management for GBGF This role is based in Sheffield and offers hybrid working.
