The Team Leader will likely be a qualified professional Civil Engineer or similar, with 15 yrs or more experience in the Transportation Industry. We are looking for someone to lead a team of circa. 35 people, locally within our London (Westferry Circus) office in addition to part of our attached Roads GCC team based in India (Bengaluru, Noida and Mumbai). The Team Leader will work alongside our complement of other UK Team Leaders and offices in the region: Cambridge, Basingstoke, Guildford and Southampton and is responsible for the development and operational performance of the team and its project portfolio, as part of the wider cost centre to meet regional budget targets and deliver projects. We support both public sector and private sector clients and this role will support major commissions, including, National Highways Scheme Delivery Framework (SDF) schemes and other Local Authority Frameworks, such as Hampshire County Council, Ealing Borough Council, Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) and Cambridgeshire County Council. A little more about your role… Being a champion of our health, safety, and well-being culture by leading by example. Maintaining an overview of the financial performance for projects within your cost centre. Drive operational excellence to achieve budget targets on utilisation. Manage and monitor technical delivery to ensure ‘right first time’. Line manage and develop members of the team to achieve their goals and aspirations. Lead on business development activities to bring in new, sustainable opportunities for WSP. Supporting and working with the Regional Director, London & South East and their goals for the cost centre. Leading on projects to ensure technical quality and timely delivery. What we will be looking for you to demonstrate… Experience of managing a Professional Services team, relevant to a Roads discipline. Chartered Member of appropriate Institution. Experience of operating at leadership level in delivering services into the public and private sector. Skills and Personal Qualities: Lead, inspire and motivate the team to support the achievement of personal and business goals. Ability to pivot to face Clients as part of managing a wider portfolio. Organisational skills to coordinate the delivery activities of a professional team. Clear understanding of the importance of robust business processes and systems and a strong commitment to quality. Strong communication skills, with excellent stakeholder management. Strong influencing skills particularly amongst peers and other managers and leaders. Ability to work openly and collaboratively to maximise overall organisational benefit. Strong commercial acumen. Technical expertise to manage and lead multi-disciplinary projects.
