The Critical Care Staff Nurse works as an integral member of the multi‑disciplinary team, collaborating closely with a range of professionals to ensure high‑quality patient care. Key working relationships include: Shift leaders (CNM2s), staff nurse colleagues, Allied health professionals, Consultation and relevant physicians.
Purpose of the Post
- To participate in the provision and evaluation of nursing services and management of patient care.
- To be responsible for individual patients by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care to the highest professional and ethical standards the model of nursing care practiced in the relevant care setting.
- The staff nurse will provide holistic, person-centred care, promoting optimum independence and enhancing the quality of life for service users.
- To share responsibility with the nursing team for the management of nursing care and the patient’s environment under the direction of the Clinical Nurse Manager 2 and Clinical Nurse Manager 3.
- To develop clinical expertise, leadership and teaching skills through nursing practice and to maintain a high standard of professional and ethical responsibility.
Post Specific Requirements
- Demonstrate experience/knowledge in nursing as relevant to the role.
- Previous Experience in critical care is essential. Candidates should have an interest in pursuing a career in critical care nursing and be willing to undertake the relevant post graduate programme of education.
