This role is designed for a highly skilled systems engineer to manage, optimize, and automate enterprise Atlassian platforms, including Jira Software, Confluence, and associated tools. The ideal candidate will drive automation-first work management strategies, improve operational efficiency, and ensure secure, compliant infrastructure across the organization. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including project managers, QA engineers, and other IT professionals, to deliver scalable solutions and address complex technical challenges. This position offers a mix of strategic initiatives, hands-on platform management, and opportunities to mentor colleagues, making it perfect for someone who thrives in a technically challenging and dynamic environment. Remote flexibility is available for qualified candidates within the U.S., with occasional travel (5-10%) to support distributed infrastructure.
Accountabilities:
- Own and manage the enterprise Atlassian platform, including Jira Software, Confluence, and related products, ensuring security, scalability, and best-in-class configurations.
- Leverage automation and APIs to streamline workflows, develop complex JQL queries, and implement process improvements.
- Design and maintain automation orchestration for corporate services, including employee lifecycle management, while mentoring teammates on automation best practices.
- Co-manage enterprise identity providers (IDP) and SaaS services, ensuring compliance, security, and operational excellence.
- Administer Okta workflows and integrations, collaborating on access control policies and single sign-on solutions.
- Support business continuity, backup strategies, redundancy planning, and disaster recovery processes.
- Participate in technology consolidation, vendor management, and regulatory compliance initiatives (ISO, SOC, PCI-DSS).
- Provide escalated technical support for complex end-user issues and occasional on-site support at satellite offices.
Requirements
- 8+ years as a Systems Engineer or 10+ years as a Systems Administrator with extensive Atlassian customization experience.
- Minimum 4 years administering Atlassian products in enterprise environments, including Jira Software customization and automation.
- 2-4 years of Okta administration experience with proven API and workflow automation skills.
- Advanced proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Groovy, or Bash, and experience with API integration tools like Postman.
- Expert-level knowledge of Atlassian suite, advanced JQL, automation rules, and custom field configuration.
- Strong experience with identity management platforms (Okta) and other enterprise tools: ServiceNow, Microsoft 365, Azure AD, Intune, PowerShell.
- Exceptional problem-solving, prioritization, and communication skills; self-starter able to deliver results with minimal guidance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field preferred; professional certifications in Atlassian, Okta, or Microsoft technologies are a plus.
