This role offers an exciting opportunity to directly influence the learning experience of students by building products and features that enhance engagement and retention. You will work on multiple projects across the platform, focusing on revamping core functionality and optimizing the student journey. As a senior engineer with full-stack expertise, you will take ownership of the entire development lifecycle, from designing scalable solutions to deploying high-quality code. Working in a collaborative, cross-functional environment, you will partner with engineers, designers, and product managers to deliver impactful solutions. Accountabilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain secure, efficient, and high-quality code, following best practices such as data encryption and input validation.
- Build scalable and reusable solutions, including libraries and components, to streamline development.
- Take ownership of small-to-medium systems, including debugging, optimizing performance, and maintaining legacy code.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure solutions meet user needs, business objectives, and technical feasibility.
- Apply testing techniques such as unit, integration, and stress testing to deliver reliable and performant features.
- Proactively identify and resolve roadblocks, ensuring timely delivery of high-impact projects.
- Align development work with customer value, using feedback to prioritize features effectively.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience building production web applications in agile, startup-like environments.
- Proficiency in modern programming languages (e.g., Ruby, Rails, React, TypeScript, AWS).
- Full-stack experience, with a focus on backend systems and scalable architecture.
- Experience working with legacy systems and designing high-traffic production solutions.
- Proven ownership of projects, collaborating with other senior engineers to deliver key roadmap initiatives.
- Mentorship experience and ability to guide and support fellow engineers.
- Strong team player with excellent documentation, communication, and asynchronous collaboration skills.
- Focused on iteration, performance measurement, and continuous optimization.
- Passion for solving complex technical challenges and improving codebases.
- Ability to work independently while embracing a humble, collaborative, and customer-focused mindset.
