Senior Software Developer (Remote - US)

In this role, you will contribute to the full software development lifecycle for advanced Machinery Control Systems used in U.S. Navy destroyers. You’ll collaborate with engineers, contractors, and naval personnel to design, develop, test, and support cutting-edge control solutions that ensure operational excellence at sea. This position requires both strong technical acumen and problem-solving abilities to deliver robust, mission-critical software. You will have the opportunity to work in a hybrid or remote capacity, with occasional travel for onsite support and collaboration.

Accountabilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software for advanced Machinery Control Systems, ensuring reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and end users to define technical requirements and deliver effective solutions.
• Debug, test, and troubleshoot software issues both remotely and onsite as needed.
• Utilize Microsoft Visual Studio, Git, and related tools for version control and software development.
• Write and maintain detailed technical documentation including requirements, specifications, and user manuals.
• Participate in the full development lifecycle — from concept and design to deployment, testing, and ongoing maintenance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Minimum of 8 years’ experience in software development, systems engineering, or networked systems (6+ with a Master’s degree).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Visual Studio and .NET Framework with experience in C++, C#, or Managed C++.
• Strong understanding of SQL, TCP/IP, and network-based systems.
• Experience in debugging, documentation, and version control (Git).
• Ability to obtain or hold a government security clearance and a valid U.S. passport.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
• Experience with databases (MS Access, SQL) and remote troubleshooting is an asset.
