This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Renewable Studies Engineer in the United States.

As a Senior Renewable Studies Engineer, you will play a critical role in modeling, analyzing, and designing electrical power systems for renewable energy projects, including wind, solar, and battery storage facilities. You will provide expertise in power system studies, regulatory compliance, and substation design, ensuring projects meet technical, safety, and operational standards. This role offers a mix of office-based analysis and field engagement, enabling you to influence project outcomes from concept through commissioning. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, provide subject matter expertise, and contribute to developing best practices, templates, and methodologies for electrical system studies. This is a high-impact role for professionals who are passionate about renewable energy and advancing sustainable power solutions.

Accountabilities:

  • Perform electrical power system studies including short circuit, reactive power/load flow, arc flash, dynamic, transient, harmonic, ampacity, grounding, and other related calculations.
  • Review and conduct QA/QC for electrical studies to support design teams.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance throughout project design, testing, and commissioning phases.
  • Develop and maintain study templates, methodologies, and best practices for electrical system analysis.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for power system modeling software and provide guidance to colleagues.
  • Perform detailed design work including one-line and three-line diagrams, control and relay schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, conduit and cable sizing, grounding design, and equipment specifications.
  • Support client communications, proposals, cost estimates, and project documentation.
  • Assist in field testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of equipment, control systems, and relays when required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology (electric power focus preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering or field experience in power systems.
  • FE licensure required; PE licensure preferred.
  • Proficiency in power system modeling and analysis software such as PowerFactory, ETAP, SKM Power Tools, PSCAD, PSSE, PSLF, CAPE, Aspen, CDEGS, WinIGS, and Cymcap.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical system design, substation engineering, and renewable energy projects.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills and strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States full-time.
  • Willingness to travel 15–25% and perform occasional field work; ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
