In this role, you’ll take the lead in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of complex aerospace systems. You’ll work on advanced reliability and safety assessments, guide design optimization, and drive the development of cutting-edge cargo systems. Acting as a technical authority, you’ll mentor engineering teams, collaborate across disciplines, and influence system design decisions that shape the future of reliable aviation technology. Accountabilities:
- Conduct reliability and safety analyses including System Safety Assessments, Fault Tree Analyses, and Failure Mode and Effects Analyses.
- Review and optimize system designs to meet certification requirements and ensure compliance with reliability standards.
- Develop and maintain Reliability Program Plans, perform predictions to establish MTBF estimates, and analyze component failure rates.
- Support or lead reliability testing activities (HALT, RET), including test planning, execution, and failure reviews.
- Define and manage safety and reliability design requirements based on customer specifications and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze data, trend reliability metrics, and deliver actionable insights.
- Lead process improvements to enhance the efficiency and quality of reliability engineering practices.
- Provide technical direction across product development phases and represent reliability engineering in internal and external reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline and 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong expertise in reliability predictions, RM&S engineering, and system safety assessments.
- In-depth knowledge of standards such as SAE ARP4754, ARP4761, and MIL-STD-882E.
- Proficiency with reliability tools and methodologies (FMEA, FMECA, FTA, RCA).
- Ability to lead technical teams and manage multiple complex projects.
- Skilled in data analysis, reliability modeling, and test management.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities for technical and cross-functional audiences.
- Preferred: experience with CAFTA or similar software, scripting for data analysis, and leadership of international teams.
