This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Principal Reliability Engineer in the United States.
As a Senior Principal Reliability Engineer, you will lead the design, analysis, and assessment of safety, reliability, and maintainability for advanced mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. You will influence engineering decisions across new product development initiatives, ensuring systems meet stringent safety and performance standards. This role combines deep technical expertise with leadership, mentoring less experienced engineers, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize processes and design outcomes. You will contribute to the full product lifecycle, from concept through testing and certification, while advancing reliability engineering practices and standards. Your work will directly impact system performance, safety, and operational excellence in a high-stakes, technology-driven environment.
Accountabilities:
- Perform safety assessments, including System Safety Program Plans (SSPP), Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), Preliminary System Safety Assessments (PSSA), System Safety Assessments (SSA), Fault Tree Analyses (FTA), and Common Mode Analyses (CMA).
- Conduct reliability assessments such as Reliability Program Plans (RPP), MTBF predictions, FMEA, and FMECA for mechanical and electro-mechanical systems.
- Define safety and reliability requirements based on customer specifications and RM&S assessment artifacts.
- Lead maintainability and testability analyses, supporting tests like HALT and RET, including procedure development, execution oversight, failure review boards, and corrective action definition.
- Investigate process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality of analyses and documentation.
- Support integration activities and technical reviews with internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide technical direction across all stages of the product development lifecycle and contribute to bid/proposal activities.
- Communicate complex technical information effectively to cross-functional teams, management, and customers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and typically 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Extensive experience with reliability predictions and engineering team management.
- Expertise in reliability methodologies, including FMEA, FMECA, FTA, RCA, and accelerated life testing (HALT/HASS).
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency with data analysis tools, scripting, and trend analysis.
- Experience developing and delivering technical presentations to diverse audiences, including international stakeholders.
- Knowledge of safety and reliability standards such as SAE ARP 4754/4761 and MIL-STD-882E.
Preferred:
- Experience in RM&S Engineering processes, procedures, and tools.
- Background in analog/digital circuit design analysis or mechanical design analysis.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and international teams effectively.
- Familiarity with CAFTA or similar fault tree analysis software and MS Office tools.
