As a Senior Platform Engineer at Skip’s Developer Edge FlowOps team, you will collaborate with teams of engineers to deploy and maintain CI/CD systems, solving problems using various tools in a (mostly) AWS environment that spans the globe. You will be responsible for ensuring our services and products seamlessly move from development through rollout and into production. We focus on improving the developer experience in the software development lifecycle.
We seek a skilled Senior Platform Engineer who enjoys code deployment systems . Working in a collaborative environment, this role is perfect for a well-rounded and proactive devops engineer who thrives in a dynamic environment where speed to market and reliability are paramount for our worldwide operations.

Location: Remote Canada 
Reporting to: Technology Manager

These are some of the key ingredients to the role:

• Working with other teams to overcome obstacles with our deployment workflows.
• Championing code quality through rigorous reviews
• Mentoring peers to elevate team performance
• Participating in paid on-call rotations to maintain the high availability of critical services
• Proactively sharing knowledge, insights, and best practices with the team and across departments
• Migrating applications and repositories from our Jenkins pipeline to GitHub Actions, and later to our custom Sonic Pipeline (which is based on GHA)
• Consolidating our code artifact storage environment (AWS ECR, Artifactory, and Nexus) into a single solution

What will you bring to the table? 

• 5+ years of devops engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a senior role.
• Curiosity with a strong appetite for new knowledge.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, design patterns, testing, and debugging.
• Extensive professional experience with Java, NodeJS,, and Python.
• Expertise in Microservices architecture and Docker containers.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services (ECS, EKS, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS).
• Experience with system monitoring and logging tools like DataDog and AWS CloudWatch.
• Strong knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform).
• Deep expertise in modern CI/CD practices and tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions), and Git version control.
• Experience with data persistence using relational databases (MySQL/Postgres).
• Proven experience mentoring/influencing peers and a passion for teamwork and code reviews.
• Strong communication skills in both written and oral English.
• Experience working with Jira in a Kanban environment
